I consent to create pieces regarding the project’s specific topics (reflections of ‘home’ and ‘familiar’ in migration, and their links to digital media) and I understand that I am responsible for myself if anything happens to me during any activity undertaken for the creation of the art-pieces or during the interaction in the platform.
I agree to have my files uploaded to the digital platform by the Researcher, who will –as the moderator of the platform- reserve the right to withdraw material that she considers racist or inappropriate, so as to avoid any deceptive or abusive behavior among the participants.
I understand that it is my responsibility to choose if I prefer to appear in the platform with my full name or if I prefer anonymity. If the latter is the desired option, I agree to use a nickname or an artistic name instead. Furthermore, in case I prefer to keep my anonymity, it is also my responsibility to upload files that do not reveal my real identity. I hereby grant permission to the Researcher the right to use my name (full, artistic or nickname), biography, video and still image, likeness, and audio collected during this project in a way described in the accompanying Project Information Sheet and Release form. I, therefore, understand that the material can be used in the final product of the project (thesis), and as a reference in further projects/publications. In case the anonymity option is chosen, I agree that the conclusions/outcome of the project can still be used in further research projects which have research governance approval as long as my name, personal identifiable details and contact information is removed before it is passed on.
Unless otherwise agreed, I recognise that the personal information (such as phone number, email addresses, etc.) I provide will be treated in confidence by the investigator and my identity will be protected in the publication of any findings. Accordingly, data will be collected and processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and with the University’s Data Protection Policy.
I understand that my participation is voluntary and I am free to withdraw at any point of the interaction process without having to give a reason, although if I do so I understand that the Researcher saves the right to use the outcomes regarding my work as well as refer to them in this project and/or her future publications. However, I will retain the ownership of the copyrights of the pieces uploaded.
I have read the information sheet, had the opportunity to ask questions and I understand the principles, procedures and possible risks involved. I understand that I can seek appropriate advice and guidance regarding my responsibilities, if needed.
I agree to take part in the above University of Sussex research project (Remapping Roots).
